live edge furniture
By: Gander Tawastsjerna
Locally crafted, sustainably harvested, hewn with a focus and passion for the spirit of the tree - these art pieces deserve a place in your home to make your heart sing.
Based in the Blue Mountains, Gander Tawastsjerna has been handcrafting organic wood shapes for the past decade. His process starts by gathering unique remnants of fallen trees from southern Ontario. The transformation from tree to reclaimed pieces of functional art is inspired by exposing the natural textures and colours of the wood. Originally, excited by the physical process of working wood, Gander has combined his chainsaw and power tool skills with the inherent beauty of wood to create a perfect marriage of his passions.
Gander divides his time between carving, working in the commercial painting industry and paddling the waterways of Ontario. His work has been shown in galleries and group exhibitions throughout Ontario.
